Thierry Senechal is Managing Director of FINANCE FOR IMPACT, a financial advisory firm specializing in impact investing and ESG funds management.
He advises corporations, institutions, and governments on their investment strategies for accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. He has in-depth expertise in creating data mining to produce market insights and finely calibrate investment strategies to meet ambitious net-zero targets. In past years, he has provided support to channel climate finance towards mitigation and adaptation activities in more than 40 countries.
Some of Thierry’s recent client projects include the following:
- Developing a suite of sector-agnostic methodologies to stress test exposure of financial institutions to climate risk, both transition and physical, to inform the development of a robust climate risk- and resilience-management strategy
- Developing a green investment strategy covering 20 countries for a multilateral institution, helping embed climate intelligence into its lending processes, and aligning financing activities with the EU Taxonomy and the Paris pathway
- Contributing to risk identification and scenario generation for a central bank to assess the overall exposure of the national financial sector to ‘tail risks’
- Advising leading financial institutions in Europe to align to regulatory expectations on climate risk management and reduce their financed emissions to reach ‘net zero’ by 2050
- Supporting a MENA country in developing its clean energy action plan and a new investment vehicle
- Supporting leading commercial banks implementing the recommendations of the Financial Stability Board’s (FSB) Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
- Setting up a new financing facility for funding climate-related projects, including the fund’s strategy, risk-management framework, operational processes, and reporting function
